Rejection of a doctoral thesis- A Finnish shame
The thesis of Israel-Jakob Schur, a doctoral candidate of Jewish origin, was rejected on questionable grounds at the University of Helsinki in 1937. The University of Helsinki rector Ilkka Niiniluoto set up an expert committee on Tuesday to ascertain whether the principles of good scientific practice were violated. Now I am ashemed to be Finnish!
